“The Skipping Rabbit” beginning solo for viola is a wonderful piece written for the Easter Season. It typifies the antics of a rabbit depicted by the short, choppy eighth notes in the melody. A very suitable piece for young violists and a very enjoyable teaching tool for teachers. This is a companion piece to those depicted in “The Scampering Scarecrow Violin Book”, and is one of many that are presented in a new viola publication entitled “The Scampering Scarecrow Viola Book”. You may download the single piece or the entire book, and, in addition, you will receive the MP3’s for each piece.
TEACHING SUGGESTIONS: All pieces found in “The Scampering Scarecrow Viola Book” come with teaching suggestions for new teachers. “The Skipping Rabbit” being one of those pieces highlights the scale in which the piece is written as well as rhythmic examples which can be used for warmup.
